Driving gears in constant mesh, thereby eliminating the clashing of gears in changing gears. Speed changes can be made at any vehicle speed without a clash of gears. Midship mounting.
DRIVE
Through propellor shafts and double universal joints, absorbed through spring-cushioned torque arm.
FRONT AXLE
Drop-forged I-beam of reverse Elliot type, king pin inclined and vertical load of same taken on ball bearings which greatly facilitates steering. Gilliam bearings of extra size used in both inner and outer wheel position.
REAR AXLE
Extra-heavy design throughout for bus requirements. Spiral bevel gears, ratio 5.3 to 1. Oversize bearings throughout.
FRAME
Pressed steel, 5-9/16"x1-3/4"x3/16", reinforced throughout. Designed to withstand the heavy stresses. Body outriggers are securely riveted to frame and supported by cross member, which also relieve the frame side rails of stresses due to weight and weave of the body and its load. Special attention is invited to outriggers provided on frame, also long, rear cross member to which the body is bolted. This relieves body sills of load and road strains, greatly prolonging life of entire body.
STEERING GEAR
